This is not a new product segment and there’s a lot of different models available in the market. Typically, portable power stations consist of a powerful, high-capacity battery, an inverter, and multiple charging ports to support USB, DC, and AC outlets. Solar power compatibility is also an important, optional feature.
In this post, we will review the Bluetti EB70s portable power station. We’ll go over the product, its specifications, and features.
We will share our personal experience and insights while using it to help you decide if this might be the best portable power station for you.
Is Bluetti a good brand?
Bluetti is a reputable brand known for manufacturing and selling portable power solutions. They offer a range of products including portable power stations, power backups, solar generator kits, expansion batteries, solar panels, and other accessories designed to cater to all sorts of outdoor activities and emergency power needs.
Their commitment to quality and innovation has garnered them awards and positive feedback from users and tech reviewers, making them a generally trusted choice in the portable power industry.
A couple of things we liked immediately when we unboxed the Bluetti EB70S power station were the small details in their packaging and the initial feel/build of the power station. When companies are intentional about their packaging, you can usually infer that they also care about their products and that shows with the EB70s power station.
The materials seemed solid and durable enough — nothing felt cheap or gimmicky.

Setting up and using the Bluetti EB70S
When you first get the Bluetti EB70S, it will come partially charged at 60%. Before the first use, we recommended charging the power station fully. Simply use the AC adapter and corresponding cables and plug into a wall outlet.
For our testing purposes it took us a little over 2 hours to go from 60% to the 100% indicator on the display. When charging, you can also easily see the battery capacity level on the LCD screen by pressing any of the 3 on/off buttons (more about this below).
For wattage geeks, you can monitor the current wattage going in (and out) while charging. The charging level (note the battery indicator) has % levels of charge that vary by 20%.
As it’s charging, it will blink showing each level. Once charged to a specific level, that level will stop blinking while the others will still blink.
For example, when we first charged the power station we new we had around 60% because that level stayed solid while the 80% and 100% indicator levels kept blinking while being charged.
Personally, we prefer a number% indicator for better accuracy, i.e. knowing it has 75% capacity instead of round up to 80% but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
Notice the green indicator light above? This will turn red when actively charging and green when your power station is fully charged. Such a simple, helpful design element.
In addition to any outlet, the Bluetti EB70S power station can also be powered by:
- compliant solar panels (OCV3: 12-28V, InputPower: 200W max) and MC4 connectors
- cigarette lighter outlets
- generators
Is the Bluetti EB70S power station loud?
Yes and no. When charging, it is loud as both the power supply and the power station itself have fans to help keep their components cool while charging.
It’s not an unpleasant sound per se. It sounds like white noise but it’s definitely noticeable.
When used as a power station (and not being charged), it’s silent. The onboard fan *might* come on if we had taxed it. We never seem to get it to that point with our multiple devices plugged in, the largest being a laptop.
Charging devices with the Bluetti EB70S
Once it’s charged up, there are 3 different areas with 3 separate on/off buttons. This is for the DC output, AC output, and built in light.
IMPORTANT – you must press, hold, and release any of these buttons to turn them on and off. A slight push only turns on the display. You’ll have to play around with the exact timing and feel.
You’ll know any area is “on” when the button indicator turns to green. This is important, as you may think your power station is defective. You need to manually turn on the charging area you want to use before any charge is sent out from the power station.
Another quick tip is that if you want activate the wireless charging pad on the top of the power station, you’ll need to make sure the DC Output area is turned on.
Quickly pressing any of the 3 buttons also turns on the display screen and will last up to 30 seconds.
You must manually turn off the charging area again by pressing, holding, and then releasing. The green indicator on the button will turn off.
Can you charge multiple devices with the Bluetti EB70S power station?
Yes! We didn’t max it out but we did test 3-4 devices being charged at once.
The display will show you total wattage output. So if you want to know the kind of wattage/charging capabilities for each device (maybe you want to test cables, power bricks, etc..), you’d do so one at a time. If you have multiple devices plugged in, you’ll see the current wattage output for all of those devices.
What can the power station be used for?
You can use the Bluetti EB70S for any situation whether it be for outdoor adventures like RV camping, going off-grid living, camping trips, or even picnicking and barbecuing.
It will also come in handy for off-site working, natural disaster emergencies, and power outages.
If you read their manual, they’ll even suggest that you could use this to keep a fridge running, or even a TV. This was beyond the scope of our tests, and the manual does not give any indication how many hours you’d get with these appliances plugged in, but you get the idea.
More on battery management and efficiency
The EB70S features a robust LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) that provides longer-lasting power. It can withstand more charge cycles compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. It offers 2,500+ life cycles up to 80% original capacity.
The battery management system and MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is designed to handle charging multiple devices using the different outlets at once without overloading.
It also has a built-in solar charge which enables efficient charging from solar panels. The maximum solar input is 200W, meaning that it can accept a maximum input of 200 watts of solar power from compatible solar panels.
Bluetti EB70S review
We took the Bluetti power station for a test drive while camping for a week at an Oregon state park, and it was impressive.
Our real life test with the Bluetti EB70S
We used it as our primary power source. I was not shy about plugging things in and offering it up to other family members who needed a charge. Over the course of 7 days starting at 100%, we left the camp with a 40% level indicator.
A couple of things to note:
- It’s heavy. By no means do you want to take this backpacking or hiking unless you had a very specific reason to do so (maybe you live up in the mountains and this is your only power supply – that’s cool!). It weights over 20lbs and we joked that it could easily be a dumbbell for workouts, though we wouldn’t recommend using it as such.
- It’s quiet. I didn’t know what to expect but we had it in our tent and we would have never even realized it was running.
- It’s about the size you’d expect it to be. For what it’s supposed to do and thinking about user case scenarios, we think it’s a decent size. Small enough to fit in a car or tent. Easy enough to carry between places, though you wouldn’t want to carry it long distances.
- Might be more practical than people realize. Many of us might think of using a power station to power up devices like phones, tablets or computers. But having a portable power supply could be really helpful for things like parties, events, people with drones or video cameras, etc…
- You can use it while charging. Say you only have access to one outlet (for whatever reason). You can use the power station as a hub and connect to multiple devices while it’s being charged. Here’s an image of the EB70S power station being charged while also sending some output wattage to a device:
More on durability and design
The Bluetti EB70S has a sleek, sturdy and compact design, perfect for portable outdoor use. It has a built-in ergonomic handle so it can be easily lifted and moved with just one hand. You can carry it comfortably and also store it without taking up too much space.
It’s built with high-quality materials which ensures durability. This is great for those looking to use it for RV camping or more rugged environments.
It has a large, easy to read LCD screen showing all relevant charging information. The power station also has a built-in LED flashlight with three different modes: full brightness, half brightness and SOS for emergency use.
It also promises a 24-month hassle-free warranty and lifetime customer support for any help you may need.
Overall we really liked EB70S design and build. Everything felt tight and well made. It was mainly intuitive and the LCD was bright and readable.
We weren’t willing to test a fall, nor go near water – and you should also, clearly, avoid those scenarios as much as possible. We wouldn’t recommend taking this to the beach either, as there are just too many holes that sand could get into.
As with most power supplies, it’s best to keep this dry, cool, and away from most things that can get into it.
Bluetti also recommends that for long term storage and the health of the battery that you charge it to 80% every 3-6 months (so set a reminder to do that).
Additionally, it’s not good for the battery if the power station remains plugged in to an AC adapter all the time. It’s better to keep keep discharging the battery once in a while and recharging it back to 80% as directed.
Comparing the EB70 vs EB70s vs EB55
The Bluetti EB70 (no longer sold) and EB70S are very similar. The main difference lies in the output power of each model. The EB70S delivers up to 800W AC power while EB70 (and EB55) provides 700W.
The 70S also has more Watt-hour capacity than the 55, so it can recharge your devices more times without being plugged in. Of course, with more capacity, the price is also higher.
Final thoughts on the Bluetti EB70S
The Bluetti EB70S Portable Power Station is a reliable, top choice for anyone looking for an efficient power source during outdoor adventures or emergency situations.
Its long-lasting battery, portability and durable design make it a valuable companion for any camping trips or off-grid travels. With Bluetti’s reputation for quality, the EB70S is a solid investment.
